Richard House is London’s first children’s hospice. Based on the edge of Docklands, it offers a comprehensive range of respite and palliative care services. These include home care, day care and residential facilities as well as a unique befriending scheme to extend support to siblings and families.

Children’s hospices are very special places where the profound needs of children who are not expected to live into adulthood, can find the specialist palliative care and respite simply unavailable anywhere else. Many of these children demand twenty four hour care from parents who may also be juggling the pressures of a career and setting up home as well as looking after other children in the family.

Richard House looks after around 150 children a year, with additional services that will extend to families and siblings. Without complete statutory funding, the reliance on the continued support of all our friends is greatly valued and more important than ever. On behalf of the children and their families, thank you.

At Richard House, our Core Purpose is:- To accompany families with children and young people with life-limiting / life-threatening conditions, during the child or young person's journey through life to death, creating positive experiences along the way which become good memories for the future.

Programmes and Activities-

Richard House runs a range of activities throughout the year. These include team entries into major events such as the London Marathon, 5k Women's Challenge, International Challenge Events, our annual Ball, golf days, dragon boat races, a London to Paris bike ride and many more including those organised on our behalf by supporter groups across London.
